Navy SEAL Sent to Psych Ward For Claiming He Was a Navy SEAL

January 23, 2012 at 4:38 pm (Navy SEAL, New York Post, Psych Ward, PTSD, SEAL, Shaun Day)

From the New York Post:

His story about being a Navy SEAL wasn’t so fishy after all.

The Virginia man arrested for gun possession in Manhattan Thursday and thrown in a psych ward when he claimed to be a member of the elite military unit but couldn’t provide proof was telling the truth, The Post has learned.

Shaun Day, 29, was on a two-week leave when cops harpooned him for running a red light at 12:30 a.m. at Second Avenue and East 26th Street.

When cops searched his pickup truck, they discovered a 9mm semiautomatic and three ammunition clips.

During the arrest, Day was rambling incoherently and harped that he was a SEAL —but had no proof for cops.

All kidding aside, let’s hope Mr. Day receives the proper care he deserves for PTSD.

Incredible Video: Fugitive Gives Interview to Reporter, Is Promptly Arrested

January 23, 2012 at 1:18 pm (Arrest, Bert Case, Fugitive, Manhunt, Mississippi, Rodney Wayne Hill, WLBT)

There’s something you don’t see on the local news every night -a live edition of cops breaking out in the middle of a newscast.  But that’s exactly what viewers of WLBT Channel 3 in Jackson, Mississippi got last night.

Courtesy of TV News Insider:

Madison County authorities aren’t sure where Rodney Hill, the subject of a Friday morning manhunt was hiding, but they know where he’s going now.

Hill, 57, will have a psychiatric evaluation at an undisclosed area hospital after a standoff that started Thursday afternoon. Armed with a firearm, he had a dispute with a neighbor, and that led to Hill’s holing up in his house. After the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol SWAT team gassed the house at 399 Davis Crossing Road after midnight, authorities couldn’t find Hill when they went in to arrest him on an attempted aggravated assault charge.

That was when reporter Bert Case, who was stationed outside Hill’s house, got the interview of a lifetime.
“I had no idea it was him. I thought at first it was somebody playing a trick on me,” said Case about his reaction to Hill coming up and introducing himself.

Once the news crew realized the object of Madison County’s nationwide alert was there, a cameraman called 911.

“I realized what I had to do – keep him talking until deputies got to the scene,” Case said, adding that as the interview wore on, “he didn’t make a bit of sense.”

Hill was arrested on camera.  Watch the video for yourself…

83% Dissatisfied With the Obama Economy

January 23, 2012 at 12:19 pm (Economy, Ethics, Gallup, Government, Morals, Obama, President Obama)

And yes, it is the Obama economy, as they polled people on their level of satisfaction with the economy over the last four years.  No more blaming Bush, Obama owns this economy.

Via Politico:

“…a whopping 83 percent now say they are dissatisfied with the economic condition of the country, according to Gallup.”

Worse, the Obama reign has seen a drop in other significant areas as well.

Large drops in satisfaction were also seen with the public view of the size and power of the federal government. Only 29 percent were satisfied with the current state of the federal government, down from 41 percent in 2008, a decline of 12 percentage points.

Additionally, satisfaction with the moral and ethical climate of the country also dropped significantly over the last four years. Only 28 percent of Americans were satisfied, down from 39 percent in 2008, while 68 percent of Americans were dissatisfied with the moral and ethical climate of the United States.

But I thought this was the healing President?  The man who could calm the rising tide of animosity in our country.  The man who would become the first post-racial President, and fix the economy through a redistribution of wealth.  The man who would pay to fill up our gas tank and pay our mortgage.

Wait, no?
