A Tale of Two Candidates: One Sounds Like a President, The Other Not So Much

August 17, 2012 at 12:05 pm (2012 Election, Chili, Country, Mitt Romney, North Carolina, Obama Eats Dogs, Ohio, On Track, President Obama, Presidential, Super Power, White House)

It’s been a bit crazy on the Presidential campaign trail this week, but as we draw to a close we’d like to point out differences between two men who are giving off two very separate vibes.

We have Mitt Romney:

Speaking at a fundraiser in Charlotte, N.C., Mitt Romney reflected on the responsibility of being commander in chief. Via the pool report:

I have been touched and humbled by people who I’ve met who’ve expected me to do — who expect me to do things that will improve their lives. I was at a coal mine yesterday, outside a coal mine, a group of miners, about 2,000 people gathered and one with tears in his eyes, I mean really emotional, said I need you to save my job and help my family. I need you to save my job. And it hit me how big the responsibility is. A rally last night, several thousand people in Ohio, and as I went along and met them one by one, again, you have to help us. You have to get the country on track. And I hear this time and again. And I feel how great the responsibility is and how much people are counting on me to get the job done, to win the White House and to get America back on track.

And then we have President Obama:

If President Barack Obama could have any “super power,” it would be the ability to speak any language.

Obama discusses a number of offbeat topics in an interview with KOB-FM in Albuquerque, N.M., that aired Friday, including his favorite music, red and green chili and some restaurant recommendations for his hometown of Chicago.

The president says he would “love to be able to speak any language,” even though “it might not come in handy to rescue folks from a burning building.” Obama says he’s a “big believer in making connections with people.”

Obama says Beyonce’s “Crazy In Love,” is a great song to “get my heart rate up,” and he also likes Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind and Fire and Jay-Z.

Asked his favorite chili, Obama says, “classic red.”

No wonder he is actively seeking out interviews with tabloid-like journalists from People Magazine and Entertainment Tonight, instead of meeting with the White House press corps.  If he’s not discussing his favorite chili, his press secretary is out discussing his favorite canine.

Which one sounds like a United States President to you?

New Ad Highlights Joe Biden’s Incompetence, Urges Him to "Please Keep Running"

August 17, 2012 at 11:05 am (2012 Election, American Crossroads, Gaffe, Joe Being Joe, Joe Biden, President Obama, Run Joe Run, Vice President)

Heh…

American Crossroads today released a new web video, “Run, Joe. Run” – urging Vice President Joseph Biden to stay in the 2012 race for Vice President, despite growing calls for President Obama to drop him from the ticket.

The video highlights…

  • Biden’s recent work to improve race relations in the United States;
  • Biden’s deeply held belief in fiscal “sanity”;
  • Biden’s “support” for small businesses;
  • Biden’s general competence and capability.

Best, the video does all of this using Mr. Biden’s own thoughtful words!

The debates between this man, who is a heartbeat from the Presidency (a scenario Osama Bin-Laden once openly hoped for) and Paul Ryan should be interesting to say the least.

Enjoy…

President’s Brother Turns to Conservative Author For Help With Medical Bills … Because Obama Refuses to Help

August 17, 2012 at 10:32 am (2016: Obama's America, Brother's Keeper, Conservative, Dinesh D'Souza, George Obama, Kenya, Medical Bills, Michelle Obama, President Obama)

Does Barack Obama truly believe that he is his brother’s keeper?  Listening to the Obama family speak, you would think so…

President Obama:   “This sense of mutual responsibility – the idea that I am my brother’s keeper; that I am my sister’s keeper – has always been a part of what makes our country special.”  (Weekly Address, Thanksgiving, 2011)

President Obama:  “We believe that I am my brother’s keeper, I am my sister’s keeper — that everybody deserves a fair shot at the American Dream.”  (Moving Forward Rally, Philadelphia, PA, October, 2010)

Michelle Obama:  “… will we honor the fundamental American belief that I am my brother’s keeper, I am my sister’s keeper, and if one of us is hurting, then we’re all hurting?”  (DNC Event, Tampa, FL, October 2011)

President Obama:  “In difficult times, Americans are coming together — tackling our challenges instead of ignoring them — and renewing the principle that we are our brother’s keeper and our sister’s keeper.”  (Presidential Proclomation, April, 2011)

Turns out however, that in difficult times, the President’s actual brother, George Obama, had to turn to a conservative author and the man behind the new film, 2016: Obama’s America, for help with his son’s medical bills.  George, as D’Souza writes, apparently does not feel he can turn to the President for help, even in times of dire emergency.

A few days ago I received a call from a man I recently met named George.  He was a bit flustered, and soon informed me that his young son was sick with a chest condition.  He pleaded with me to send him $1,000 to cover the medical bills.  Since George was at the hospital I asked him to let me speak to a nurse, and she confirmed that George’s son was indeed ill.  So I agreed to send George the money through Western Union.  He was profusely grateful.  But before I hung up I asked George, “Why are you coming to me?”  He said, “I have no one else to ask.”  Then he said something that astounded me, “Dinesh, you are like a brother to me.”

Actually, George has a real life brother who just happens to be the president of the United States.  (George Obama is the youngest of eight children sired by Barack Obama Sr.)  George’s brother is a multimillionaire and the most powerful man in the world.  Moreover, George’s brother has framed his re-election campaign around the “fair share” theme that we owe obligations to those who are less fortunate.

One of Obama’s favorite phrases comes right out of the Bible: “We are our brother’s keeper.”  Yet he has not contributed a penny to help his own brother. And evidently George does not believe, even in times of emergency, that he can turn to his brother in the White House for help.

So much for spreading the wealth around.

Obama’s refusal to help George is especially surprising because George doesn’t just live in American-style poverty but rather in Third World poverty.  He lives in a shanty in the Huruma slum in Nairobi.  He gets by on a few dollars a month.  Obama also has an aunt named Hawa Auma, his father’s sister, who ekes out a living selling coal on the streets of a small village in Kenya.  She says she would like to have her teeth fixed, but she cannot afford it.  Obama hasn’t offered to help her either.

What’s going on here?  Why is President Obama so hesitant to help family members in need?

It’s not as if the President isn’t aware of his brother’s plight.  George was interviewed in 2008 by CNN, an interview which showed him as living in poverty in Kenya.  The video caption reads in part:

Barack Obama says he wants to take more money from the “rich” to make the tax code “fair,” but he won’t give one dime to his own half-brother who lives in abject poverty. Barack Obama claims he wants to help all Americans, but he will not even help his half-brother.

So why is the man who preaches about being our “brother’s keeper” clearly failing to live up to his own expectations?

Worse if you’re a liberal, how do you reconcile the fact that the President’s own brother had to resort to the kindness and generosity of a greedy, selfish conservative like Dinesh D’Souza?  This simply doesn’t fit your narrative.

Voter Fraud Retrial For Democratic Elections Commissioner Set For November

August 17, 2012 at 9:00 am (Ballot Fraud, Clement Campana, Edward McDonough, Gary Galuski, Lansingburgh School District, Michael LoPorto, Rensselaer County, Sara Couch, Trial, Voter Fraud, Working Families Party)

Ed McDonough, the Democrat Elections Commissioner in Rensselaer County embroiled in a voter fraud scheme which has seen others of his party either serve time or accept plea deals for their actions, will go back on trial in November, with jury selection beginning on the 13th of that month.

From the Times Union:

In November, Rensselaer County Democratic Elections Commissioner Edward McDonough will stand trial for the second time this year on charges he allegedly forged absentee ballots to help Democrats secure the 2009 Working Families Party primary…

…  McDonough, who faces 38 felony counts of second-degree forgery and 36 felony counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, was first tried alongside former City Councilman Michael LoPorto earlier this year. That highly publicized trial took nine weeks, beginning Jan. 17 and ending in a mistrial with a hung jury March 13.

This trial, and the ensuing ones should provide a plethora of exciting details.  The first combined trial with LoPorto (who has since been acquitted) and McDonough saw accusations of voters being paid for their signatures, accusations of immigrants being targeted, stories of mentally disabled men being used for their ballots, and Democrat councilmen joking about their past felony convictions.

Such is the state of politics in upstate New York.

McDonough’s trial will then likely be followed by the trials of two other Democrats allegedly involved in the scheme.

Former City Council President Clement Campana awaits trial on charges of first-degree falsifying business records and four counts of illegal voting, all felonies, and a count of conspiracy to promote or prevent election, a misdemeanor.

City Councilman Gary Galuski still faces four felony counts of first-degree falsifying business records.

Our original prediction was that the first trial for LoPorto would end up in his acquittal, based on varying witness accounts and a convenient changing of testimony by Working Families Party operative Sara Couch.  McDonough does not have such luxuries, and may well face some level of conviction.

McDonough also currently serves on the school board for the Lansingburgh School District.

Romney Campaign: Proof of Paul Ryan’s Positive Effect

August 17, 2012 at 7:00 am (2012 Election, America's Comeback Team, Economy, Matt Rhoades, Medicare, Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, President Obama, Social Media)

Campaign Manager Matt Rhoades has provided a snapshot of the hard data since Paul Ryan was chosen as VP candidate.

The results show that, while the media wants you to believe this is a disastrous choice for Romney, the reality is just the opposite.  Observe…

Tomorrow marks a week since Mitt Romney announced his choice of Congressman Paul Ryan to join him on America’s Comeback Team, and it’s clear that his choice has reshaped the race in a positive way.  The Obama team’s increasing vitriol is a sure sign that they’re rattled by the pick.  Unable to engage in an elevated policy debate, they’ve spent the past few days drowning in their own venom.

President Obama is on defense over his $716 billion raid of current Medicare beneficiaries to pay for Obamacare, and allowing the hospital trust fund to go broke by the time those aged 50 or below are Medicare eligible.  The political director of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee warned this week that the issue could cost Democrats the election.
At the same, time, the Romney Plan for a Stronger Middle Class is gaining traction.  Voters in the swing states believe that Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan have a better plan than Barack Obama and Joe Biden “to reduce the deficit, create jobs and get the economy moving.”[1]
Polling data shows Romney gaining since the announcement.  Both Gallup and Rasmussen show us leading Obama in national polling, and recent statewide polling shows us picking up ground in Ohio and Virginia.
While President Obama’s team continues its campaign of frustration and division to distract voters from his failed record, the Romney-Ryan team will continue offering solutions to the challenges facing our nation.  America is ready for a comeback and if this past week is any indication, America’s comeback will begin on November 6th
