France’s Plans to Legalize Gay Marriage Include Banning the Words ‘Mother’ and ‘Father’

September 25, 2012 at 5:41 pm (Father, France, Gay Marriage, Mother, Parents)

Unreal.

Via the UK Telegraph:

The move, which has outraged Catholics, means only the word “parents” would be used in identical marriage ceremonies for all heterosexual and same-sex couples.

The draft law states that “marriage is a union of two people, of different or the same gender”.

It says all references to “mothers and fathers” in the civil code – which enshrines French law – will be swapped for simply “parents”.

The law would also give equal adoption rights to homosexual and heterosexual couples.

Justice Minister Christiane Taubira told France’s Catholic newspaper La Croix: “Who is to say that a heterosexual couple will bring a child up better than a homosexual couple, that they will guarantee the best conditions for the child’s development?”

Last I checked, and my science may yet be a little rusty these days, it doesn’t matter how a child is conceived, you still need a mother and father and their respective cells to create a life.  No?  So the terminology is still viable.

If a gay couple raises a child, then they are the parents. But that child still has one mother and one father, no matter who raises them.

Obama Spokeswoman: "The President Has Killed Osama Bin Laden"

September 25, 2012 at 4:56 pm (Jen Psaki, Libya, Middle East, Osama Bin laden, President Obama, Terrorism)

Apparently the theme the Obama administration is going with is that the Middle East is doing just fine because – you guessed it – the President has killed Osama bin Laden!

Just ask spokeswoman Jen Psaki:

I wonder what weapon he used.  Or maybe it was with his bare hands?  Jedi mind tricked him to death?  Hard to tell.
The point here is that Obama doesn’t have to meet with world leaders.  He doesn’t have to call the Libyan attacks terrorism.  Forget that the Middle East is burning – he killed Osama bin Laden!
I wonder what terrorists consider more inflammatory, a film they’ve never seen or the constant reminder that Barry killed their leader?

Two Futures: Appeasement or Strength?

September 25, 2012 at 4:11 pm (Allen West, Appeasement, Islam, Libya, President Obama, Strength)

Earlier today in his address to the United Nations, President Obama again found it difficult to identify a clear case of terrorism as terrorism.

In that address, the President spoke of the future of those who would dare insult the religion of Islam, taking a shot at the makers of the anti-Mohammed film which has since been used as a paltry excuse for the attacks in Libya.

Meanwhile, Congressman Allen West also offered his vision of the future for those who would attack and kill Americans.

You tell me which statements you would rather hear from the Commander-in-Chief.

President Obama (Democrat):

“The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam.”

Allen West (Republican):

“The future does not belong to those who attack our Embassies and Consulates and kill our Ambassadors. The Angel of Death in the form of an American Bald Eagle will visit you and wreak havoc and destruction upon your existence”

So which do you prefer, appeasement or strength?

Obama Still Can’t Bring Himself to Say Attacks in Libya Were Terrorism

September 25, 2012 at 12:26 pm (Ambassador, Anderson Cooper, Benghazi, Chris Stevens, CNN, Hillary Clinton, Jay Carney, Libya, Matthew Olson, President Obama, Terrorism, Terrorist Attack)

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney can say it:

“It is self-evident that what happened in Benghazi was a terrorist attack,” White House press secretary Jay Carney told reporters traveling yesterday with President Barack Obama.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton can say it:

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton says it was a “terrorist attack” that killed the American ambassador to Libya and three others, and she says the U.S. will not rest until those responsible are brought to justice. Clinton told reporters Friday at the State Department that, quote, “what happened in Benghazi was a terrorist attack.” And she said the U.S. would track down, quote, the “terrorists who murdered four Americans.”

National Counterterrorism Center (CTC) Director Matthew Olson can say it:

During testimony on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, Counterterrorism Director Matt Olsen acknowledged that the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya was a terrorist attack. When asked by Senator Joe Lieberman about the deaths of four Americans, he said, “They were killed in the course of a terrorist attack on our Embassy.”

But nowhere in his speech to the United Nations today will you see the President of the United States refer to the attacks in Libya that killed four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens, as terrorism.

Why would we?  The President is still clinging to the desperate notion that a video that nobody has seen is what sparked the ‘spontaneous’ attack that just so happened to occur on September 11th, in which protesters just so happened to be carrying rocket propelled grenades launchers.

An excerpt from today’s speech:

That is what we saw play out the last two weeks, as a crude and disgusting video sparked outrage throughout the Muslim world. I have made it clear that the United States government had nothing to do with this video, and I believe its message must be rejected by all who respect our common humanity. It is an insult not only to Muslims, but to America as well – for as the city outside these walls makes clear, we are a country that has welcomed people of every race and religion. We are home to Muslims who worship across our country. We not only respect the freedom of religion – we have laws that protect individuals from being harmed because of how they look or what they believe. We understand why people take offense to this video because millions of our citizens are among them.

The biggest problem with blaming radical Muslim rage on a video, aside from the common sense evidence that indicates it played no role in the attacks, is that Ambassador Stevens himself saw other reasons to be concerned about his safety.

CNN’s Anderson Cooper recently explained, using Ambassador Stevens’ journal that, “Christopher Stevens was concerned about security threats, Islamic extremism, and an al-Qaeda hit list in the months leading up to the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi.”

The President went on:

I know there are some who ask why we don’t just ban such a video. The answer is enshrined in our laws: our Constitution protects the right to practice free speech. Here in the United States, countless publications provoke offense. Like me, the majority of Americans are Christian, and yet we do not ban blasphemy against our most sacred beliefs. Moreover, as President of our country, and Commander-in-Chief of our military, I accept that people are going to call me awful things every day, and I will always defend their right to do so. Americans have fought and died around the globe to protect the right of all people to express their views – even views that we disagree with.

Apparently however, the answer wasn’t enshrined in our laws just a couple of weeks ago, when the President’s administration was calling for YouTube to pull the controversial video.

The irony here is that perhaps the President’s unwillingness to stand up against terrorist attacks, and to stand for freedom of speech, may be what leads a person to say awful things about him.

FreedomWorks PAC Endorses Wendy Long in the New York Senate Race

September 25, 2012 at 12:02 pm (FreedomWorks PAC, Kirsten Gillibrand, Max Pappas, New York, Senate, Wendy Long)

FreedomWorks PAC endorsed Wendy Long in the New York Senate race today following in-depth discussions with Long, and a detailed look at her record. FreedomWorks PAC believes Wendy Long is the clear choice for voters who support free markets, fiscal responsibility, and constitutionally-limited government.

Wendy Long has an established record of public service as an aide for two U.S Senators and a clerk for the U.S. Appeals Court and the Supreme Court. She also had a distinguished career in the private and non-profit sectors, working her way up to partner at a prominent New York law firm and helping to build the Judicial Crisis Network, which educates the public about the proper Constitutional role of the courts.

FreedomWorks PAC Executive Director Max Pappas commented, “Wendy Long is a Constitutional law expert who understands fully why we must limit the size and scope of the federal government.  She understands that the quickest way to a healthy, growing economy is to free individuals and small businesses from excessive meddling by government bureaucrats and tax collectors.”

“In contrast, Senator Gillibrand has been a rubber stamp for President Obama’s big-government agenda, voting for the government takeover of health care, the failed stimulus program, and the President’s unsustainable levels of spending. Wendy Long will fight for lasting economic recovery and job creation, and will be a consistent vote for responsible spending reforms.”

FreedomWorks PAC has also endorsed the following U.S. Senate candidates in this election cycle: Jeff Flake (Arizona), Connie Mack (Florida), Ted Cruz (Texas), Richard Mourdock (Indiana), Tom Smith (Pennsylvania), George Allen (Virginia), Dan Bongino (Maryland) and Josh Mandel (Ohio).

FreedomWorks PAC is a grassroots service center to a community of over 2 million activists nationwide dedicated to fighting for lower taxes, less government, and more freedom in every Congressional district in America.  For more information about the PAC, please visit http://www.FreedomWorksPAC.org, or contact Executive Director Max Pappas at Max.Pappas@FreedomWorks.org.

CBS: For Obama, Diplomacy "Taking a Backseat to Campaigning"

September 25, 2012 at 10:40 am (Benghazi, Bumps in the Road, Iran, Israel, Libya, Middle East, Syria, The View, United Nations, White House, World Leaders)

You know it’s bad when the normally compliant lapdog media rips the President for forsaking his job over a chance to campaign on The View.

Via CBS:

President Obama arrived in New York Monday afternoon for the United Nations General Assembly. One of the main topics of discussion at this annual meeting will be the recent unrest outside U.S. embassies in the Muslim world, including an attack in Benghazi, Libya, which claimed the lives of four Americans. But unlike years past, the president will not be sitting down with any of the more than 120 world leaders who are here in New York.

Simply put, the White House is prioritizing the president’s reelection effort. Most heads of state will be here all week, but the president will be in New York less than 24 hours, and even then will spend most of his time away from this conference.

After landing in New York Monday afternoon, the president headed straight for a sit-down –not with visiting leaders, but with the ladies of “The View,” for an interview to air tomorrow.

Last year at the U.N. General Assembly, President Obama held 13 one-on-one meetings with major leaders.

But this year diplomacy is taking a back seat to campaigning, despite a worsening civil war in Syria, rising tensions between Israel and Iran, and the recent attack in Libya.

What CBS fails to understand is that watching U.S. buildings burn to the ground, and diplomats being murdered at the hands of Islamic extremists across the Middle East isn’t that big of a deal.

They’re just “bumps in the road“, topics hardly worthy of taking the time to actually act like a President.  This man is a rock star people, and the ladies of The View demand his time.

World leaders?  He’ll call them … maybe.

NY City School Girls – Can I Have a Large Soda?; City – No, But Here’s Some Morning After Pills

September 25, 2012 at 9:00 am (Contraception, Morning After Pill, New York, New York City, New York City Schools, Parents, Pregnancy, School Girls)

Schoolgirls as young as 14 will be given access to taxpayer-funded morning after pills in the same city that won’t allow them to purchase a large Coke with their own money.

The New York City Department of Education is making the morning-after-pill available to high school girls at 13 public schools.

The DOE says girls as young as 14 will be able to get the Plan B emergency contraception without parental consent.

Parents have been notified about the CATCH pilot program and how their daughters can opt out of it.

City Council Speaker Christine Quinn says she supports the program because high school students are sexually active and getting pregnant.

How did this become the responsibility of the school system?  Surely families that need this type of contraception will be able to get it from Sandra Flu … er … Obamacare.

And shouldn’t parents be given the choice of ‘opting-in’ as opposed to having to actively ‘opt-out’ of the program?

Biggest issue with this is, if the parents don’t properly submit the form to opt-out, or as is way too often in schools these days, they aren’t properly notified of the procedure, the schools can dispense the emergency contraception to their children without ever notifying anyone.

Feel Safe? 60% of Gitmo Detainees Cleared For Release by Obama Considered "High Risk"

September 25, 2012 at 7:00 am (Gitmo, Guantanamo Bay, Guantanamo Bay Review Task Force, Long War Journal, Osama Bin laden, President Obama, Terrorists)

What could possibly go wrong?

The Long War Journal reports:

The Obama administration has released a list of 55 Guantanamo detainees who were approved for transfer by the Guantanamo Bay Review Task Force. The task force, which was authorized by President Obama as one of his first acts in office, completed its work in January 2010. The Obama administration has worked to resettle many of the detainees the task force approved for transfer, but the detainees on the newly-disclosed list remain at Guantanamo.

Before the task force was authorized in January 2009, Joint Task Force Guantanamo (JTF-GTMO) had previously assessed all of the detainees held in Cuba. JTF-GTMO’s threat assessments for 760 current and former detainees have been leaked online. (Approximately 167 detainees remain in custody at this time.)

The Long War Journal has matched those threat assessments to the 55 detainees on the task force’s list.

JTF-GTMO determined that 34 of the 55 detainees on the newly-released list were “high risk(s)” who are “likely to pose a threat to the US, its interests, and allies” if freed from custody. One detainee was deemed a “medium to high risk.”

JTF-GTMO assessed that 19 of the 55 detainees are “medium risk(s)” who “may pose a threat to the US, its interests, and allies.”

Just one of the 55 detainees was assessed to be a “low risk, due to his medical condition.”

It’s not like former Gitmo detainees would ever launch terrorist attacks against the U.S. again … wait, what?

As we reported Thursday:

There are reports tonight that a radical left-wing organization is responsible for helping to free a former detainee at Guantanamo Bay named Abu Sufian bin Qumu.  Bin Qumu has been cited by multiple sources at Fox News as at least being involved with, and possibly playing the lead role in the attacks on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya.  Those attacks resulted in the deaths of U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other American diplomats.

Well … um … Osama’s dead!  Yea, that’s our foreign policy…
