Dear Republicans – STFU and Let’s Get This Done

September 18, 2012 at 7:44 pm (2012 Election, 47%, Alexa Shrugged, Andrew Breitbart, Conservatives, Mitt Romney, President Obama, Republicans)

As we sit here watching a President who ignores a world and a U.S. economy burning in chaos, while instead doing photo shoots for the Hispanic version of People Magazine, or spending the weekend watching football, or holding fundraisers with Jay-Z, the media is dictating to us what is truly important – Mitt Romney caught on video telling his wealthy donor audience that 47% of the Obama-era electorate are dependent on government.

In other words, *gasp* the truth.

The incident has led to in-fighting on the right, with beltway Republicans choosing to take up the fight for the President’s campaign and excoriate Romney for his candid remarks.

Why?

When the Weekly Standard tried to convince people that all conservatives agreed that Romney was wrong with his remarks, it prompted Erick Erikson of RedState to respond, “Like hell.

And now, Alexa Shrugged has penned the single best response to the ‘secret tape’ argument, with her own argument that represents a majority of the thinking on the right side of the blogosphere.  She has been kind enough to allow us to re-post the piece here.

I’ve gotta get blatantly partisan and maybe ruffle a few feathers, but hopefully wake some people up.  We are 48 days away from the election.  This is do or die, the fate of our country is at stake.  The infighting is over, the circular fire-squad must end, the criticisms of our candidate must be held until after the election, the Reagan 11th commandment must be adhered to – this may be controversial to say, but it must be said and must be done if we are to win.

President Obama has been an utter failure and the focus right now should be on the Middle East which is on fire – and a US ambassador was ASSASSINATED!!!! for the first time since the Iran hostage crisis – plus the economy is in the toilet.  If you have concerns about the optics of things Romney says – his press conference on Egypt was too early, it shouldn’t have blamed Obama, the 47% quote is bad – even if you truly believe this stuff, even if you think these issues are of Romney’s own making and he is a bad candidate, I must say to you right now: STFU!!!!!

You are being a useful idiot by providing cover for the left and MSM to make this into a huge story instead of the actual things going on in the world that matter you are giving Obama further campaign ads – “Romney sucks – even X conservative says so!”  The fact that you have qualms about Romney “gaffes” ONLY hurt us, there is no possible positive outcome for you saying it.  Don’t give me the “I’m just being objective, I’m maintaining my independence and integrity,” etc. I don’t care about your self-centered righteous indignation – forget you and your personal vanity – this isn’t about YOU, we have a country to save.  So, STFU!!!!!

You can easily find things in what Romney has said to agree with – if you can’t get over the 47% number of people who don’t pay income taxes, then turn the discussion into a broader point of big government dependence vs. individual independence and the American creed – what kind of country do we really want to be?  Or focus on his truth on Israel and the Palestinians not wanting peace from that same donor video.  Or attack Obama and his administration for ignoring warnings about the September 11th embassy attacks. Or the fact that Brownshirts took in a film maker in the middle of the night because he exercised his free speech rights to criticize a religion.

There is so much material, you should not be wasting one second going after Romney for supposed “gaffes.”

Get in line, defend Romney, or at the very least focus every breath on attacking Obama as if your life depended on it – because it does, if not literally, then at least the quality of your life and all future generations.  This is desperation time, do or die, leave it all on the field.

“Let’s get this done. We can do this.” – Paul Ryan.  WE MUST DO THIS!

Thank you.

Signed,

A die-hard conservative who cannot live under another 4 years of Obama and will do ANYTHING to win in November

Please visit Alexa’s site here…

You know who would have whole-heartedly agreed, and been supremely proud of Alexa’s words?  Andrew Breitbart.

At his CPAC 2012 speech, Breitbart made this incredibly important point:

I don’t care who our candidate is and I haven’t since the beginning of this. I haven’t! Ask not what the candidate can do for you, ask what you can do for the candidate! …

When I walk through CPAC or a I travel the United States to meet people in the Tea Party who care – black, white, gay, and straight – anyone that’s willing to stand next to me to fight the progressive left, I will be in that bunker.

And if you’re not in that bunker because you’re not satisfied with [a certain] candidate, more than shame on you! You’re on the other side!

The choice is clear.  You’re either in that bunker with Alexa and Andrew, supporting and fighting for Mitt Romney … or you’re on the other side.

Which is it?

Video – Andrew Breitbart’s Call to #War

May 29, 2012 at 7:56 pm (#War, 2012 Election, Andrew Breitbart, Ben Howe, CPAC, Mitt Romney, President Obama, Two Paths)

Still questioning whether or not you can vote for Mitt Romney?  If, after watching this video from Ben Howe, you’re still unsure, then you really need to question yourself.

Howe uses an epic speech that the late but great Andrew Breitbart delivered at CPAC this year, calling on people to choose between two paths – Obama or a candidate they might not find to be 100% perfect.

Breitbart had this to say:

I don’t care who our candidate is and I haven’t since the beginning of this. I haven’t! Ask not what the candidate can do for you, ask what you can do for the candidate!

This video is many things.

It is a summation of the failed Obama experiment.

It is the greatness of Andrew Breitbart and Ben Howe.

And it is a declaration of #war.

What bunker will you be in?

Video – Trailer For the New Film, Occupy Unmasked

March 19, 2012 at 10:05 pm (Andrew Breitbart, Citizens United, New York, Occupy Albany, Occupy Unmasked, Occupy Wall Street, Stephen K. Bannon)

With springtime in the air, and the Occupy movement already in full force with multiple arrests and death threats, we thought it’d be a good time to take a look at the trailer for the soon-to-be released documentary from Citizens United, Occupy Unmasked.

The new film from director Stephen K. Bannon promises to delve deeply into the movement, exposing its origins as well as the radical ideas behind their platform of income equality.  Here is the official movie trailer for Occupy Unmasked.

Brace yourselves, it’s quite revealing of the true inner motivation of the common Occupier…

Whoops.  Sorry about that.  Understandable mistake.  Anyway, here is the actual trailer…

Palin Pens Inspirational Piece on Breitbart

March 16, 2012 at 4:00 pm (#War, Andrew Breitbart, Breitbart is Here, Conservatives, Joel Pollak, Larry Solov, President Obama, Sarah Palin, Steve Bannon, Vetting)

Andrew Breitbart has inspired a fighting spirit in the entire conservative movement, from bloggers to candidates for President.  But it’s important to note that he did this through his life, and not in his death.  He has armed the conservative movement for #war.

And, he is indeed here…

From Sarah Palin at Breitbart.com:

There is a new street art poster that’s being emailed around and will no doubt eventually be spotted on a street corner near you. It’s a gritty black and white image of Andrew Breitbart looking both battle-worn and ever vigilant with the caption: “BREITBART IS HERE.”

Those three words express the instant connection many of us feel for our fallen friend. They express our identification with him, and our need to continue his fight for the good of our republic.

With the death of Breitbart, the conservative movement didn’t just lose a General – we lost an entire Special Forces Division. But he didn’t leave us without the tools and the knowledge we need to fight. This website – Breitbart 2.0 – is the culmination of his study of the technology and aesthetics of new media. The team Breitbart assembled under the leadership of Steve Bannon, Larry Solov, and Joel Pollak will advance his mission with courage and integrity.

Breitbart’s most immediate mission was the belated vetting of Barack Obama. This obviously is an issue very near and dear to my heart.

During the ’08 campaign, the same media that reported breathlessly about an old used tanning bed I purchased to get some sun during the dark Alaskan winter, couldn’t be bothered to investigate Barack Obama’s associations, statements or even his voting record as a state senator. Suntans and what I wore on the campaign trail were more important than Obama’s political background. Unbelievable.

But when you come to think of it, the media didn’t investigate either of our actual political records very closely.

Bloggers Club Announces Breitbart Scholarship and Memorial Website

March 16, 2012 at 1:27 pm (Ali Akbar, Amy Kremer, Andrew Breitbart, Anthony Weiner, Blog Bash, Breitbart Scholarship Fund, CPAC, National Bloggers Club, Washington)

I urge all of you to consider checking out the memorial website…

Washington, DC:

The National Bloggers Club, a new non-profit providing a loose association for free market bloggers, has officially announced a grant program for young citizen journalists in honor of Andrew Breitbart’s legacy, the Breitbart Scholarship Fund. The fund has been set up in conjunction with a website, RememberBreitbart.com, dedicated to showcasing Andrew’s fans and showcase his work.

Visitors of the website will be able to donate to the fund, apply for grants and submit their own videos to a library of fans memorializing Breitbart.

Prior to his death, Breitbart attended a National Bloggers Club event, Blog Bash at CPAC. There he was given the “Changing the Narrative” award for his work exposing the Anthony Weiner Twitter scandal. Shortly after, Breitbart had indicated he would join the Board of Directors for the National Bloggers Club.

This wasn’t Breitbart’s first Blog Bash event. He had been a supporter for over 2 years.
“Not in a million years did I ever imagine that we would lose Andrew just weeks after I handed him the only award — from what I’m told — that he would receive recognizing his work. I knew we wanted to do something special to honor this man and make him a legacy, so when I was approached about having the National Bloggers Club ‘do something’ in Andrew’s memory, we jumped.” said National Bloggers Club President Ali A. Akbar.

In the weeks following his passing bloggers and activists have held memorial events across the country including Washington, DC, New York, Michigan and Texas “to honor his legacy and renew the commitment to fight the good fight” according to Tea Party Express Chairman and National Bloggers Club Advisory Board Member Amy Kremer.

Anyone interested in making a donation to the Breitbart Scholarship Fund can go to http://www.RememberBreitbart.com. All grants will be reviewed by a board overseen by Andrew’s friends, former colleagues and other bloggers.

Video: Obama Allies Hid Video of Him Embracing Yet Another Radical

March 8, 2012 at 8:56 am (Andrew Breitbart, Bill Ayers, Charles Ogletree, Derrick Bell, Harvard, Jeremiah Wright)

The bigger story here isn’t that Obama is shown embracing a radical professor.  We know that the President associates himself with some of the more extreme members of society – i.e. Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, etc.

The real news here is the flat-out admission by his peers that they intentionally withheld the video so as not to damage Obama’s election prospects in 2008.  Further, the video could easily have been obtained and placed in proper context by any self-respecting member of the media – if they wanted to.

Via Breitbart:

. . . Barack Obama was as close or closer to Derrick Bell than he ever was to Jeremiah Wright. Obama didn’t merely sit in the pews — or not — for Derrick Bell. He didn’t just hang out with Derrick Bell for prayers. He said:
“Open up your hearts and your minds to the words of Professor Derrick Bell.”
If we did, here’s what we’d be opening our hearts and minds to. This is a close associate of Jeremiah Wright, a man who was quoted by Jeremiah Wright regularly. This is a man who posited that the civil rights movement was too moderate because it accepted the status quo, and believed that the entire legal and constitutional system had to be transformed in radical fashion. This is a man so extreme that, as we’ve reported, he wrote a story in 1993 in which he posited that white Americans would sell black Americans into slavery to aliens to relieve the national debt, and that Jews would go along with it.

Remember the words of his friend and ally, Professor Charles Ogletree:

‘Of course, we hid this during the 2008 election… I don’t care if they find it now.’

Of course we hid who Obama really was, and we knew the media wouldn’t do a damn thing about it.

Liberal Radio Host Glad Breitbart’s Dead, Would Pour Weed Killer on His Grave

March 6, 2012 at 5:32 pm (Andrew Breitbart, Bias by Omission, Condoleeza Rice, Culture/Society, Democrats, Double Standards, John Sylvester, Liberals, Media Bias Debate, Rebecca Kleefisch, Sly Sylvester, Wisconsin)

A few days ago, conservative author Ann Coulter summed up the left’s reaction to the death of Andrew Breitbart with this statement:  “Even in death he shows liberals in their true colors”.  With that, those true colors, the same rage and venom being spewed in Breitbart’s direction, continues.

Last week, we saw Rolling Stone publish a piece in which author Matt Taibbi lamented how happy he was for Breitbart to be gone.  We saw Slate columnist, Matt Yglesias, proclaim that “the world outlook is slightly improved” with Breitbart dead.  And then there was former editor of the New York Press, and Taibbi cohort, Jeff Koyen, mock writers defending Breitbart as “hitching yourself to a corpse”.

Continuing in that same vein of sub-standard decency is liberal radio host, John “Sly” Sylvester of WTDY in Madison, Wisconsin.  Sylvester recently aired a 20-minute segment on his radio show which was posted as a Podcast entitled, “Andrew Breitbart:  Dead (thankfully)“.

From Media Trackers (h/t Washington Free Beacon):

Last Friday, liberal Madison radio-host John “Sly” Sylvester aired an extended segment on 1670 WTDY that celebrated in no uncertain terms the death of conservative activist Andrew Breitbart. Sly posted the 20 minute podcast on his website under the title “Andrew Breitbart: DEAD (thankfully).”

While the title was simply beyond the pale, the content of the podcast is as vile as it gets. Starting at the 5:00 mark and continuing to 6:43 is a monologue by the host Sly in which he mockingly says he would pour weed-killer on Breitbart’s grave. He then compares his joy at the news of Breitbart’s death to that of Yemeni terror leader Anwar al-Awlaki’s death in September 2011.

Here is a short list of Sylvester’s most vitriolic comments towards a recently deceased husband and father of four young children:

  • “I’m gonna pour Round-Up on his grave …so there’s no chance that he ever comes back to life!  And I can kill him like the weed that he was.”
  • “I’m glad he’s dead!”
  • “To me Andrew Breitbart’s death is kinda similar to Kim Jung Il.  Kind of a similar thing.”

The podcast has since been removed from Sylvester’s site, but fortunately the folks at Media Trackers posted a screenshot, which can be seen here.

Sylvester has a history of such controversial segments, once referring to Condoleeza Rice as an “Aunt Jemima” and also accusing GOP Lieutenant Governor, and cancer survivor, Rebecca Kleefisch, of having performed “fellatio on all the talk-show hosts in Milwaukee.”

Additionally, I’ve contacted Program Director for WTDY, Rex Charger via e-mail seeking a comment, but have yet to receive a response.  Perhaps Mental recession readers would have better luck (h/t Bethany) by clicking here…

Weekend Recession: Andrew Breitbart’s 2012 CPAC Speech

March 3, 2012 at 3:07 pm (Andrew Breitbart, Breitbart, Candidate, Conservative, CPAC, GOP, Kurt Cobain, Media, Republican, Speech, Susie Bean, Weekend Recession)

Normally, we like to leave you with something funny to look at over the weekend – whether it’s Elmo singing ‘I’m Sexy and I know It’, or a baby playing ping-pong, etc…

But the world become a little less funnier this week with the unexpected announcement that conservative media icon, Andrew Breitbart, had passed away.

Breitbart was essentially the Kurt Cobain of political media, saying things that were on the minds of conservatives, but delivered in a way that only he could.  He was bright, funny, accommodating, and by all accounts the hardest working man in media.

So this weekend we are simply giving you the complete clip from his speech at CPAC, just a few weeks ago.  It is funny in and of itself, but again ends with a tremendously important point that can’t be stressed enough:

I don’t care who our candidate is and I haven’t since the beginning of this. I haven’t! Ask not what the candidate can do for you, ask what you can do for the candidate! …

When I walk through CPAC or a I travel the United States to meet people in the Tea Party who care – black, white, gay, and straight – anyone that’s willing to stand next to me to fight the progressive left, I will be in that bunker.

And if you’re not in that bunker because you’re not satisfied with [a certain] candidate, more than shame on you! You’re on the other side!

It is also sad to see a man so vibrant and full of energy, that he stole the show at CPAC, and to know that just a short time later he is gone.  But the fight carries on.

Our condolences to his wife, Susie, his four young children, and the rest of his family and friends…

NY Newspaper Describes Breitbart as "Anti-Black"

March 2, 2012 at 5:13 pm (ACORN, Amsterdam News, Andrew Breitbart, Anita MonCrief, James O'Keefe, Media Bias, New York, Shirley Sherrod, Sonnie Johnson)

Leave it to a New York outlet to produce this tripe…

Via NewsBusters:

There’s been a lot of ugly stuff in the blogosphere as well as various social networking websites such as Twitter since Thursday’s shocking announcement that conservative publisher Andrew Breitbart died at the age of 43.
Possibly the most offensive came in a headline from New York Amsterdam News titled “Anti-Black Journalist Andrew Breitbart Dies Suddenly“:

Breibart [sic] made his reputation by attacking liberal organizations and public officials as well as people of color.

He was most famous for attacking former USDA employee Shirley Sherrod who was fired from her job by Obama administration officials after he posted a video that implied that she had denied helping white farmers who needed her help. Later it was revealed that Breibart [sic] had skillfully edited the video to leave out additional comments Sherrod made explaining how she ultimately helped the farmers.

The NewsBusters report states that, “for those unfamiliar with NYAN, it is a weekly newspaper whose target market is African-Americans in New York City.

But it doesn’t matter if your audience is black or white, or your staff is black or white, when you apparently can’t read things written in black and white.

There are so many falsehoods in this piece, it is ridiculous.

First, let’s start with the title.  Andrew Breitbart was anything but ‘anti-black’.  I’m sure Sonnie Johnson and Anita MonCrief would argue this vehemently.

Second, the column has a myriad of spelling errors, at one point referring to Andrew’s website as ‘beitbart.com’, and immediately after (the very next word) calling him ‘Breibart’.  Later on, they refer to the ‘occupied wall street’ movement, and the ‘associated pres’.  Spell check my friends.

Third, in describing the ACORN expose, the article states that “Breitbart in an attempt to entrap the organization dressed up as a pimp and got tax advice from their workers.”  It was actually James O’Keefe who dressed up as a pimp.  Excuse me for having difficulty envisioning Andrew in a feather boa and fedora.

Fourth, the article at one point refers to Breitbart as a ‘her’.

Fifth, Breitbart never edited the Sherrod video, skillfully or otherwise.

Such journalism leaves me speechless.

Update:  NYAN corrected number 3 and 4 above but have left the headline as ‘Anti-Black’.  I have contacted the newspaper for a correction but have yet to hear their reasoning for labeling him as such.

Rolling Stone on Breitbart: He’s Dead. Good!

March 2, 2012 at 8:37 am (Andrew Breitbart, Celebrating Death, Hatred, Journalistic Integrity, Matt Taibbi, Media, Rolling Stone)

And it gets much worse from there…

I almost hate to draw attention to this incredibly sad example of the intolerant left over at Rolling Stone, but quite frankly, Andrew Breitbart probably would have eaten this up, and tweeted it back out.

Matt Taibbi, who delusionally lists himself among the ranks of ‘journalist’ and ‘political writer’ took things way too far today, posting a blog entry on the Rolling Stone site which is, in a word – abhorrent.

We’ve all seen examples of the intolerant left on Twitter, something that sadly is to be expected in such a crazy and unregulated platform.  But when you represent a magazine like Rolling Stone and publish something like this, then you’ve clearly forfeitted your right to ever, ever, call yourself a journalist.  You barely have the right to call yourself a man.

The article won’t be linked here, but you can read some excerpts below – provided you have a strong enough stomach.

(Language Warning)

Taibbi posted a piece in which the title says it all – Andrew Breitbart:  Death of a Douche.
A classy start that goes downhill from there.

So Andrew Breitbart is dead. Here’s what I have to say to that, and I’m sure Breitbart himself would have respected this reaction: Good! Fuck him. I couldn’t be happier that he’s dead.

Taibbi then rounded out his piece with this paragraph, in which he appears to justify his language and contempt because Breitbart has used such language in the past.

But he also had enough of a sense of humor to appreciate why someone like me shouldn’t bother to pretend I’m sad he’s dead. He wouldn’t, in my place. So to use one of his favorite words: Good riddance, cocksucker.* Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

None of this should be a surprise really, as this man has a history of writing such controversial pieces.  Taibbi was mentioned in this New York Times Art section entry for another piece that celebrated the death of a great man.

Jeff Koyen, the editor of New York Press, the pugnacious free weekly, resigned yesterday over a cover article last week that ridiculed the failing health of Pope John Paul II. The article, a column by Matt Taibbi, had the headline “The 52 Funniest Things About the Upcoming Death of the Pope.”

While the editor of the New York Press had the decency and common sense to resign over such an incendiary piece, don’t expect so much as an apology from Rolling Stone.

This is what they view as ‘journalism’ there, and it is precisely what Andrew Breitbart has fought against for so many years.

While the sickest members of the liberal media continue to spew their hatred for a man who fought to expose what they truly represent, we can take solace in the fact that Andrew is laughing and retweeting this liberal bile straight from heaven.
