Police in Aurora, Colorado have confirmed responding to a major shooting scene at a movie theater hosting a midnight premier of the movie The Dark Knight Rises.

Police say there has been a shooting at a movie theater near Denver, and a hospital spokeswoman says there may be several victims.
Aurora, Colo. police say they are responding to a shooting at a movie theater at a local mall.
Police spokeswoman Cassidee Carlson says “the scene is still very active and we have little information for release at this time.”
NBC says that ‘at least 20‘ have been injured:
At least 20 people were hurt early Friday following a shooting at a movie theater in Aurora, Colo., police said.
The incident occurred during a midnight showing of the Batman film “The Dark Knight Rises,” a police official told NBC News.
Several news sources have indicated 10 dead right now, but the International Business Times (IBT) indicates 12. They also mention the possibility of multiple gunmen and explosive devices. Other accounts on Twitter have indicated that tear gas or other incendiary devices were also used. The report indicates that one man, described as “an Indian male” is in custody while another remains on the loose.

An update to the IBT report states:
Multiple children are among the dead according to Donna Hayes-Johnson, a news producer at WFHP. It is even being reported that a baby was shot at point-blank range.
Whoever perpetrated this act had to have known going in that a Batman movie would involve many children in the crowd. This is truly horrifying.
UPDATE: 9NEWS Denver reports a confirmed minimum of 10 dead, 39 transported.
