Charlie Rangel on Biden’s "Chains" Comment: "You Bet Your Ass He Was" Talking About Slavery

August 24, 2012 at 12:18 pm (Back in Chains, Charlie Rangel, Joe Biden, New York, Racism, Slavery, Stupid, Virginia)

Looks like Joe Biden’s remarks to a predominantly black crowd in Virginia that the Romney/Ryan ticket wants to put “y’all back in chains” has another critic – Democrat Charlie Rangel.

Rangel attacked the racial tone of the comment, the vernacular Biden chose, and declared the comments were indeed about slavery.

Rangel also concluded, “You bet your ass it was stupid”.

This is a direct counter to the claims Biden and Obama have made since the remarks raised eyebrows a couple of weeks ago.

Via Politicker:

After Vice President Joe Biden infamously told an audience that Mitt Romney is “going to unchain Wall Street,” and concluded they are “going to put y’all back in chains,” Mr. Romney’s campaign cried foul. This was an obvious and unfair allusion to slavery, Mr. Romney’s surrogates argued.

Well, count veteran Congressman Charlie Rangel among Mr. Biden’s critics on the Democratic side of the aisle.

“The Vice President said he’s going to put “y’all in chains,” Mr. Rangel told The Perez Notes in a recent free-wheeling interview. “Was he talking about slavery? You bet your ass he was. Was he using the vernacular? Yes, he was. Did he think it was cute? Yes, he did. Was it something stupid to say? You bet your life it was stupid.”

“It was something if a black had said it, we would have been laughing, because we would know deep down they may be beating the hell out of us, but they ain’t thinking about putting us into any chains,” he added.

Will pressure from his own side prompt an apology from the vice-president?

Candid Admission: Democrats Say PA Voter ID Law Could Cost Obama Election

July 25, 2012 at 4:13 pm (2012 Election, Charlie Rangel, DCCC, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, Pennsylvania, President Obama, Racism, Sheila Jackson Lee, Voter Fraud, Voter ID, Voter ID Law)

What does it say about your party when doing things illegally (voting, citizenship) is perceived to be the only way to win elections?

Beltway Confidential:

Pennsylvania’s voter identification law could sink President Obama’s reelection campaign, according to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC).

“Pennsylvania’s new ‘voter I.D.’ law could literally decide the fate of President Obama’s re-election,” wrote DCCC field director Brynne Craig. “It’s not the first time that Republicans have tried to suppress the vote — but in an election this close, it could be the tipping point that delivers the Presidency to Mitt Romney.”

Allow me to serve as proofreader – the phrase ‘suppress the vote’ should have read ‘suppress the illegal vote’.  That one is free.

Anyway, the Dems can’t even use their usual talking point in Pennsylvania – that poor minority groups would be unable to attain the necessary ID – because it is free and can be obtained months ahead of the election.

The Secretary of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is creating a new voter ID card that is free for people without other forms of ID.

“As we work to ensure that Pennsylvanians have the identification they need to vote this fall, this new card will provide another photo ID option for voters,” Commonwealth Secretary Carol Aichele said earlier this week. “Everyone who needs ID to vote will be able to get it months before the election.”

The only way to interpret the statement that voter ID law could sink the President’s re-election bid, is that the Democrat party feels they need as many illegal votes as possible to have a chance.

This isn’t the first time Democrats have admitted to this.  In January, the Congressional Black Caucus had this to say:

The Congressional Black Caucus on Monday night took to the House floor to charge that voter ID laws popping up around the country are aimed at dissuading minority voters from voting, and making it harder for President Obama to win re-election.

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) added that supporters of these laws have made the “misrepresentation” that there was fraud in the 2008 election, “maybe because we elected the first African American president.”

Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY) also drew a connection to these laws and Obama’s election, and said he’s not sure if the laws are being advanced due to “the color of the President” or because Obama “received record-breaking participation by the very same people that they’re making it difficult to vote.”

It takes tunnel vision for a person to believe that voter ID laws are racist or an act of minority suppression.

It takes a candid admission – albeit, inadvertently – to believe that proving your identity can only harm supporters of President Obama.

In short form – doing things legally is a detriment to the left.

Candid Admission – Proving Your Identity Only Hurts Democrat Voters

January 24, 2012 at 12:40 pm (Ballot Fraud, CBC, Charlie Rangel, Congressional Black Caucus, Democrats, ID, Identification, President Obama, Sheila Jackson Lee, Voter, Voter Fraud)

It takes tunnel vision for a person to believe that voter ID laws are racist or an act of minority suppression.

It takes a candid admission – albeit, inadvertently – to believe that proving your identity can only harm supporters of President Obama.

In short form – doing things legally is a detriment to the left.

Via The Hill:

The Congressional Black Caucus on Monday night took to the House floor to charge that voter ID laws popping up around the country are aimed at dissuading minority voters from voting, and making it harder for President Obama to win re-election.

Replace the word ‘minority’ with ‘illegal’ and the statement becomes more factual.  But isn’t it astounding, that they are essentially admitting that the elimination of illegal votes would make ‘it harder for President Obama to win re-election’?

It continues…

Rangel however, being from New York, should have immediately countered Jackson Lee’s comments; for there is no “misrepresentation” of voter fraud rather, it is an accepted political tactic in Rangel’s home state.
Coincidentally, opening arguments have begun in an upstate New York ballot fraud case – a case that should demonstrate the urgent need for voter ID laws.  In that case, Democrats openly admitted that “voter fraud is an accepted way of winning elections, and faking absentee ballots was commonplace” and “what appears as a huge conspiracy to nonpolitical persons is really a normal political tactic.”

That normal political tactic, possible only because of a lack of voter ID laws, has resulted in over 100 total charges for two Democrats, which include second-degree forgery, second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, and second-degree criminal possession.

Voter fraud – a normal political tactic that explicitly benefits the re-election of President Obama and the left.

Your modern day Democrat party.
