Did the egotistical President finally accept a serving of humble pie?
After taking a beating on conservative blogs last week for redesigning the American flag by replacing the stars with an ‘O’ symbol, the Obama campaign has quietly removed the product.
But fear not Obamabots. Lest you think your campaign has lost their touch, they still managed to get caught in a blatant lie as to why the flag disappeared. They’ve still got it.
A page where the flag was now returns as error page. A cached version of the website still shows the product but returns a error page when attempting to add the item to the cart. An Obama campaign aide says the item quickly sold out and that sold out items are automatically removed. However, a similar item to the flag print that was also sold out was not automatically removed and appears on the site with “out of stock” below it.
It’s not just the narcissism involved in redesigning the American flag with your own logo, or the possible flag code violation, it’s the timing of the O flag’s release.
As Gateway Pundit points out, the flag design couldn’t have come at a worse time.
If the image looks familiar it could be because the red stripes resemble the bloody Benghazi hand prints. The bloodstained walls at the US consulate revealed that the US officials were dragged to their death by
Here’s your visual aid…
The point being drawn – the similarity of the images – is a graphic criticism of the Obama campaign’s indulgence in the Obama cult of personality, while the Obama administration neglects to provide adequate security for our diplomatic personnel currently in danger as the Arab Spring turns to a Muslim Brotherhood radical Fall.
Also, we’ll call BS on the statement that the flag has sold out. Nobody in their right mind is even sporting the Obama bumper stickers this go-around, due to embarrassment. It’s fairly certain they’re not going to be showing off their disrespectful Obama flag with pride.
As Gateway Pundit says, it’s an Obama world now…
From a site called – I kid you not – Unicorn Booty:
Nicole Jodice’s sweet, sweet boo raises a gay pride flag above a U.S. military base while stationed in Afghanistan. Not a hoax! Not a photoshop illusion. Nicole assures us this is the real deal, baby!
A bottomless well of gratitude and admiration to not only the LGBT members of the military across the globe, but the incredible straight allies that literally wave the flag for equality wherever they go. We’re absolutely humbled and inspired by your support. Thank you!
Equality doesn’t appear to go both ways however.
In November, Politico reported that a Christian cross had been removed from an army chapel…
A large cross that had been prominently displayed outside a chapel on an isolated military base in northern Afghanistan was taken down last week, prompting outrage from some American service members stationed there.
“We are here away from our families, and the chapel is the one place that feels like home,” a service member at Camp Marmal told POLITICO. “With the cross on the outside, it is a constant reminder for all of us that Jesus is here for us.”
“Not having it there is really upsetting,” added another. “I walk by the chapel daily on the way to chow and the gym, and seeing the cross is a daily reminder of my faith and what Jesus accomplished for me. It is daily inspiration and motivation for me to acknowledge my faith and stay on the right path.”
Camp Marmal is a German base that hosts NATO forces. The interfaith chapel in question is supervised by the U.S. Army.
The soldiers said they found great comfort in the chapel —and the cross visible outside. “Sometimes the Church and the ability to openly express religious views ultimately gets people through the deployments over here,” one told POLITICO by email.
You can openly express sexual views in the army, but religious views are apparently too controversial.
Now it’s Christians who have to live their lives in a closet.
A flag flying outside Democrat headquarters in Lake County, Florida, featured something amiss. There seemed to be a subtle change that was difficult to spot at first glance. Wait, there it is!
There, in the place where we’re used to seeing a blue field adorned with 50 stars that represent the 50 states in the United States of America, was a lone star. A rock star. A Democrat rock star.
50 stars had been replaced with President Obama’s face:
A group of Veterans in Lake County, Florida have shown their disgust for the county Democrats who have desecrated the American flag by putting up a mock flag that has President Obama’s face where the 50 stars belong…
In a story from WFTV.com, the veterans went to the offices and demanded the flag be taken down. At first, Lake County Democrat Party Chairwoman Nancy Hulbert declined to take it down, letting the veterans know that if they touch the flag she’ll call the police. 10 minutes later, she came out with a pair of scissors, and took the flag down, noting that she had looked online to figure out if the flag was against the US Flag Code:
Just went online. Just went online and looked up the flag code. There is no higher-up in Lake County. I’m responsible. I take responsibility.
Warner Todd Huston at Right Pundits adds:
The Party hack at the office fought against the veteran that went to demand they take down the altered U.S. flag (because it violates the flag code, he said) saying it was private property and she could do whatever she wanted.
NOW Democrats are worried about private property?
Anyway, the fact that these Democrat hacks didn’t understand immediately that putting Obama’s face on a U.S. flag was not only a violation of the flag codes (an honor system rule, not a law) but was actually offensive to most people, well it’s telling, indeed.
While it is upsetting to veterans for obvious reasons, this is nothing new for Obama fans.
Inside Charm City reported on another example in 2009, citing a photograph that appeared in the Baltimore Sun.
…a ticket design for the Democratic National Convention has been accompanied by a bit of controversy.
The credential appears to show an upside-down American flag on both sides. What’s worse, the front makes it appear as if Obama is cloaked in the flag, as the stars are almost visually equivalent to his shirt. In fact, Matt Chandler speaking on behalf of the Obama campaign states:
“…it is a stylized flag designed to blend the stars on Senator Obama’s shirt with the flag blowing in the wind.”
The first question that arises is why would a man who once refused to wear the American flag on his lapel, be interested in sporting a patriotic shirt, overflowing with stars?
Second question, despite the following denial from the Democratic National Convention Committee…
“The DNCC community credentials incorporate patriotic design elements. They do not depict an actual American flag.”
… How did the designer of the credentials not realize that perception might lead people to believe this is indeed a representation of an upside-down flag?
USNews reports a new Harvard study confirms Republicans are more patriotic than Democrats.
A new Harvard University study finds that July 4th parades energize only Republicans, turn kids into Republicans, and help to boost the GOP turnout of adults on Election Day.
“Fourth of July celebrations in the United States shape the nation’s political landscape by forming beliefs and increasing participation, primarily in favor of the Republican Party,” said the report from Harvard.
“The political right has been more successful in appropriating American patriotism and its symbols during the 20th century. Survey evidence also confirms that Republicans consider themselves more patriotic than Democrats. According to this interpretation, there is a political congruence between the patriotism promoted on Fourth of July and the values associated with the Republican party. Fourth of July celebrations in Republican dominated counties may thus be more politically biased events that socialize children into Republicans,” write Harvard Kennedy School Assistant Professor David Yanagizawa-Drott and Bocconi University Assistant Professor Andreas Madestam.
Perhaps if liberals spent less time burning the flag, and more time learning about it’s history and symbolism, these mistakes would be less frequent.
