A new report indicates that the Obama administration handed over half-a-million dollars to their media partners at MSNBC in 2009.
The funds were part of the taxpayer funded stimulus, and served to run commercials during the Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann shows, meant to recruit young liberals for the President’s failed ‘green jobs’ program.
The Labor Department paid out hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal stimulus funds to a public relations firm to run more than 100 commercials touting the Obama administration’s “green training” job efforts on two MSNBC cable shows, records show.
The commercials ran on MSNBC on shows hosted by Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann in 2009, but the contract didn’t report any jobs created, according to records reviewed recently by The Washington Times.
Spending reports under the federal Recovery Act show $495,000 paid to McNeely Pigott & Fox Public Relations LLC, which the Labor Department hired to raise awareness “among employers and influencers about the [Job Corps] program’s existing and new training initiatives in high growth and environmentally friendly career areas” as well as spreading the word to prospective Job Corps enrollees.
The administration claims that the decision had nothing to do with politics, but it certainly blurs the line of distinction between the main stream media and government. Is it any wonder Rush refers to it as the “State-run media”?
Olbermann’s last stint was with the epically pathetic Al Gore station, Current TV, so he has pretty much burned all of his bridges. Perhaps this means he won’t be gracing our TV sets any time soon.
From the New York Post:
Liberal bloviator Keith Olbermann spent his last days at Current TV driving colleagues nuts with rants about “smelly’’ drivers who had the audacity to talk to him, according to startling e-mails obtained by The Post.
“The problem is with him . . . the man who professes to be for the 99% doesn’t want any of the 99% talking to him or being near him,” an accounting executive complained in one of the missives.
An assistant, who had just about maxed out her corporate card in a desperate attempt to find a car service whose drivers would meet Olbermann’s exacting standards, e-mailed Accounting:“I bet you wish I was joking about this . . . but we have yet another car service we need to open an account with.
“Any chance we can get this ASAP? I keep putting the charges on my corporate card and I’m afraid it will go over the limit soon!”
But then she had an inspiration — why not try an LA company called, appropriately, “Diva.’’
“I am hoping this is the last one!!” the exasperated staffer said.
It worked, but it didn’t last long, because Olbermann was fired about a month later. He did, however, leave the studio for the last time in a Diva limo, sent by the firm’s New York operation.
Olbermann’s pre-Diva drivers had disdained him as much as he despised them.
“I don’t watch him. And I don’t like him as a person,” said one Skyline driver. “He’s wealthy and entitled. That should be your answer.”
You didn’t watch him and you don’t like him as a person? Welcome to the rest of the world.
Personally, this has always been one of my favorite Twitter messages…
Olbermann and his current liberal friends in the media seem to really be pushing this narrative that rapes at Occupy encampments across the country didn’t happen. Saying something didn’t happen until you believe it, simply indicates some sort of psychotic issue in your own mind. It doesn’t erase the facts.
Daily Kos founder, Markos Moulitsas, made this statement on Olbermann’s show (h/t Weasel Zippers):
“They [Occupiers] can be as filthy and they can rape people — if you want to make stuff up — but the fact is nobody really cares about it because that message isn’t about the messenger, it’s not about who’s delivering a message, but it’s about the message itself which really resonates at a very core emotional level with people who are suffering in this economy.”
First, the only people making things up are Olbermann and Moulitsas, denying these things happened. You can’t stare at a blue sky and try to tell everyone around you that it’s green.
Second, I would imagine those who were victims of the rapes do actually care, along with anyone who has a conscience.
A few months ago I wrote a piece which included a list of transgressions at the Occupy camps, which was labeled ‘Lust’. Remember, this is actually a short list.
Lust is generally considered to constitute an uncontrollable range of sexual thoughts or desires. The Occupiers seem to have an overabundance of this at their protests:
- A 24-year-old convicted sex offender having sex with a 14-year-old at Occupy Dallas.
- Rapes and instances of groping in New York’s Zuccotti Park.
- One rape victim was alleged to have been a deaf man.
- A female protester raped at Occupy Philadelphia.
- Women Only sleeping quarters had to be erected at the New York encampment.
- A permit was yanked in Madison, Wisconsin, due to public masturbation.
- A Los Angeles protester arrested for masturbating in front of children.
