Weekend Recess: NASA – They’re Sexy and They Know It

August 18, 2012 at 7:56 am (Bobak Ferdowsi, Cool, Curiosity, Funny Video, LMFAO, Mars, Mohawk, NASA, NASA and I Know It, President Obama, Rover, Sexy, Sexy and I Know It, Viral Video, Weekend Recess)

Who knew a Mars rover landing, a mohawk-sporting scientist, and a jar of peanuts could be so cool?

Well, the President did:

“It does sound like NASA has come a long way from the white shirt, black dark-rimmed glasses and the pocket protectors,” Obama said. “You guys are a little cooler than you used to be.”

And so apparently did a group called Satire, who capitalized on the success of NASA’s Curiosity rover mission to Mars to produce a parody of the hit song, “I’m Sexy and I Know It”.

The video for the song by LMFAO, “I’m Sexy and I Know It,” is either crude or crudely funny, depending on your tastes. But if your tastes runs toward the geeky, you’ll find this parody, “I’m NASA and I Know It” hilarious.

This video, from a group called Satire, pokes fun at the LMFAO song, as well as Bobak Ferdowsi, the mohawked NASA employee who was prominently displayed in NASA’s footage of the Mars Curiosity rover landing. With lyrics like, “When lookin’ for ice / gotta calibrate, gotta be precise,” plus actual footage of the landing, makes this song something we geeks can dance to.

Weekend Recess: Is This an NBC Olympic Video, or an Adult Film Preview?

August 12, 2012 at 12:54 am (2012 Olympics, Athletes, London Olympics, NBC, Sexy, Sports, Women)

A producer at NBC recently decided to make a video called “Bodies in Motion”, showing off Olympic athlete’s bodies in various states of competition.  Unfortunatley, the music production department chimed in, adding uber-creepy porn-like music to the clip.

Critics slammed the network for what seemed like the blatant sexualization of athletes competing for Olympic gold.

NBC promptly pulled the video, but left us wondering – What were they thinking?

Via LiveLeak:

Someone at NBC Apparently Approved This Creepy, Porny Video of Female Olympians.

Have you barfed yet today? Get thee to a drain of some kind before watching this video the pervs over at NBC have put together in order to show their appreciation for Olympic bodies of the 2012 London Games.

Unfortunately, to NBC, showcasing the “Bodies in Motion” of the XXX Olympiad means taking footage of conventionally attractive female athletes competing in sports that require them to be scantily clad, slowing it way down as the camera lovingly caresses their butts, breasts, and bouncing ponytails, and playing some soft core porn music over it.

Weekend Recess: Vote – Are Women’s Beach Volleyball Uniforms Too Sexy?

August 4, 2012 at 9:16 am (2012 Olympics, Athletic Skills, Body Parts, China, London, Olympics, Sexy, Tian Jia, Women, Women's Beach Volleyball)

There is a controversy brewing at the London Olympics and it doesn’t involve judges, steroids, or tanking matches (we’re looking at you Badminton) – it involves bikinis.

Critics are claiming that not only are the women’s beach volleyball uniforms too sexy, but that photographers seem to be focusing an inordinate number of their images on certain parts of the female anatomy.

Are the Olympics women’s beach volleyball photos too sexy? That is the claim being made by some people who find that too many pictures of these female Olympians are filled with crotch shots and close-ups of women’s derrieres in tight bikini bottoms, according to the Huffington Post just yesterday.

… Although female beach volleyball teams are no longer required to wear bikinis while competing in the Olympics, most of them chose to continue the tradition of skimpy two-piece swimsuits for the 2012 Olympics.

It should come as no surprise that the women’s beach volleyball photos of competitors in bikinis come across as far sexier than photos of Olympians who chose to compete while fully clothed. While wearing a bikini, everything from hand signals to a congratulatory hug looks sexy. No one is blaming the women for being too sexy. The question is whether the photographers are gratuitously focusing on certain body parts or poses when they snap their photos.

So what do you think readers?  Too sexy, too photographed, or not enough of either?  Tell us in the comments section!

Weekend Recess: Model Javelin Thrower Leryn Franco

July 28, 2012 at 8:19 am (2012 Olympics, Athlete, Javelin, Leryn Franco, Leryn Franco Hot, London Olympics, Model, Olympics, Sexy, Weekend Recess)

Our video last week of Michelle Jenneke’s racy warm up routine was such a hit, we’re going to throw another bone to our younger single male audience…

This week’s Weekend Recess is an Olympic edition.  She may have finished a distant 51st in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, but Leryn Franco became an internet sensation, ranking only behind Michael Phelps among internet searches for Olympic athletes.  Why?

It’s clear that the 30-year-old from Paraguay is popular for more than just her javelin-throwing technique.

A model and beauty pageant contestant, Franco has participated in the Miss Bikini Universe pageant, released her own calendar, and was the runner-up to Miss Universo Paraguay in 2006. She has brought a bit of glam to her sport as well, posing in heels with her javelin for a photo shoot and wearing earrings with bling during competition.

Franco has fared far better on the magazine and Internet hot lists than in international javelin competitions. She appeared in the 2011 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition and was most recently ranked No. 64 on AskMen.com’s “Top 99 Women” of 2012. She also made Maxim’s “Sexiest Women of the Olympics” list and has an endorsement contract with Nike.

Franco isn’t expected to compete for Olympic medals in 2012, though she has improved her personal numbers.  Her personal best is 57.77 meters, a far cry from other javelinists (is that a word?) who have record tosses of 71+ meters.

Long shot or not, Franco promises to make quite an impression in London.

Weekend Recess: Michelle Jenneke’s Sexy Pre-Race Routine Heats Up the Internet

July 21, 2012 at 12:54 pm (Athlete, Australia, Australian, Barcelona, Boys, Hurdler, Hurdles, Michelle Jenneke, Olympics, Sabrina, Sexy, Spain, Weekend Recess, World Junior Championships)

Usually our Weekend Recess clips are some sort of humorous video clip lighting up the internet that particular week.  This week, we’re throwing a bone to our biggest audience share – the 18-34 year old single male.

That said, this video isn’t without humor.  Whoever chose the cheesy background music to accompany the video has made the whole thing.  The music makes it laugh-worthy throughout.

Incidentally, our other biggest audience attribute?  According to Lijit.com, 43% of our readers make $100,000 in annual salary.  With that in mind, I’d like to direct your attention to the ‘DONATE’ button located on the right side of this page.  The shiny, candy-like button…

Without further ado, time to meet Michelle Jenneke, dancing internet sensation…

Via With Leather:

Australian hurdler Michelle Jenneke won heat 2 of the Women’s 100 metres hurdles at the 14th IAAF World Junior Championships in Barcelona over the weekend, and if you watch the following video closely you’ll take away three major observations:

1. Michelle Jenneke is good at hurdles.

2. Michelle Jenneke is smoking hot.

3. Michelle Jenneke is the only thing your brain will let you think of when Michelle Jenneke is dancing.

While everyone else is stretching out and concentrating, Michelle starts go-go dancing. The announcers mention how she’s “certainly having fun”, and then she kills everybody at the hurdles. When she wins, she hugs everyone and waves at the crowd.

If you watch this clip and don’t love Michelle Jenneke, please consult your physician.

Yahoo! Sports added:

According to Bleacher Report, sports blog With Leather posted raw, live-stream footage of Jenneke’s prerace routine, then went back and edited it with an “overt celebration of Jenneke and her dancing and running presented in gratuitous slow motion, and with an awful song over it.”

Here ya go…
