United States Senator Kirsten Gillibrand Accused of Filing False Tax Return

September 14, 2012 at 4:09 pm (2010, False Returns, Kirsten Gillibrand, New York, NY-20, Sears Holding, Tax Returns, Wendy Long)

Citing what they call an “impossible transaction” the campaign team for Wendy Long sent out a press release today accusing United States Senator Kirsten Gillibrand of filing a false tax return in 2010.

Here is a copy of the press release:

A cursory review of Senator Kirsten Gillibrand’s taxes indicates a transaction that was impossible.  But the New York Times refused to even examine the issue.
U.S. Senate candidate Wendy Long said, “Two things stand out here: we have a tax code that even a U.S. Senator can’t get right and a liberal media goliath that is playing one side of this election.  Neither is surprising, and both are wrong.”
Long added, “Senator Gillibrand has a history of ‘shorting’ America, but did she short the taxpayers too?  The New York Times doesn’t care.”
Kirsten Gillibrand’s 2010 tax return  shows that she purchased 80 “shares” of Sears Holding Corp. (“Sears”) for $22,780 on January 12, 2010.  Her return shows that the 80 “shares” were sold on June 21, 2010 for $23,980.  This is impossible.

The stock price on January 12, 2010 (purchase date) had a low of $97.67 per share and on June 21, 2010 (sale date) it was a high of $77.80 per share.  Details fromYahoo Finance on the Sears stock prices are shown below:

If Gillibrand purchased 80 “shares” of the stock for $22,780 on January 12, 2010, it would have meant that the value of the stock was $284.75 per share.  Based on the data reflected in the chart above, that is impossible.
In January, The New York Times used opposition research provided by the Gillibrand in a high profile article on a potential opponent. But when provided with a simple and clear trade that was impossible to occur, the Times refused to even investigate, much less report on the matter.
Concluded Long, “Senator Gillibrand should explain her error and provide all her taxes and backup data to an independent entity, not her brother, for a full review since it’s clear that either through ignorance or intent they aren’t compliant with the law.”

Obama Campaign Releases Ad Hinting Romney is a "Felon"

July 31, 2012 at 5:59 pm (2012 Election, Mitt Romney, Obama, President Obama, Romney Felon, Romney Tax Returns, Stephanie Cutter, Tax Returns, Truth Team)

It was just last month that Obama Campaign Manager Stephanie Cutter claimed that Mitt Romney is either a liar or a felon, insisting that he misrepresented his time spent at Bain Capital.  Upon hearing the accusations, the Romney campaign insisted that the President issue an apology for the remarks.

Instead, the campaign has doubled down on the outrageous accusation, running an ad that attacks Romney for not releasing more tax returns, at one point flashing the words “felons” and “tax records” on the screen.

The Weekly Standard reports:

The latest web ad from Barack Obama’s campaign goes after Mitt Romney for not releasing more tax returns than he already has. The ad, titled “Mitt Romney’s Tax Returns: When Will He Come Clean?,” at one point flashes two words onscreen, “FELONS” and “TAX RECORDS.”

The words, “FELONS” and “TAX RECORDS,” are displayed onscreen for at least six seconds, so the Obama campaign wants to make sure its viewers see the words.

Given the title of the ad–and the subject–the ad wants viewers to consider that Mitt Romney might not be releasing more tax returns because, the Obama campaign is suggesting, he might be a felon.

Here’s the video…

Is there ever a point where the people surrounding Obama recognize their own epic levels of hypocrisy?  College transcripts, healthcare reform developed behind closed doors, executive privilege to cover up Fast and Furious documents, interfering in voter intimidation prosecutions…  Where are the real felons in this campaign?

IRS Refunding Billions in Tax Dollars to Illegal Aliens – In Mexico

May 3, 2012 at 9:00 am (Dependents, Fraud, Illegal Immigrant, IRS, Mexico, President Obama, Tax Returns)

Let’s drop the i-word….  and add the f-word – Fraud.

Via Doug Ross:

Just when you thought your outrage-meter had pegged the needle, you come across a brand new atrocity courtesy of a government that is completely out-of-control.

…Investigative television reporter Bob Segall of Indianapolis NBC affiliate WTHR TV Channel 13, was contacted by a long-time central Indiana tax preparer, who blew the whistle on a multi-billion dollar tax fraud about which the IRS has done nothing, according to the TV news show video segment that aired on Monday.

“There is not a doubt in my mind there’s huge fraud taking place here,” he said, slowly flipping through the pages of a [heavily redacted] tax return… “We’re talking about a multi-billion dollar fraud scheme here that’s taking place and no one is talking about it,” he said.

The scheme involves illegal immigrants that are filing tax returns, claiming child credits for multiple dependents under their support in “their” U.S. household, and collecting enormous cash refunds–such as one persons tax return that showed income of over $14,000, who collected a cash refund of over $10,300.

A multi-billion dollar fraud scheme designed to benefit illegal aliens?  Now, why would the Obama administration turn a blind eye to such activity?  Oh yea… it’s an election year.
