Report: Gillibrand’s Claim That Her Website Serves as an Independent Organization is a Sham

August 21, 2012 at 3:47 pm (Alex Wagner, Campaign, Democrat, Kirsten Gillibrand, MSNBC, New York, Off the Sidelines, Republican, Weekly Standard, Women)

Today, NYGOP  spokeswoman Becky Miller released the following statement regarding Senator Gillibrand’s stint yesterday on MSNBC’s “NOW with Alex Wagner:”

“On MSNBC yesterday, Kirsten Gillibrand touted ‘OffTheSidelines.org’, a website she’s running to get ‘more women, Democrats, Republicans, all women, to hopefully run for office.’

But according to an exposé by the Weekly Standard, OffTheSidelines.org is:

“nothing more than a gateway site and fundraising tool for the Gillibrand campaign. A disclaimer at the bottom of the page says the site is “paid for by Gillibrand for Senate.” The homepage has a prominent link to ‘Contribute to Gillibrand for Senate,’ and another link to simply ‘contribute’ leads to a Gillibrand for Senate contribution form.”

“During her interview, Gillibrand referenced the 11 women who are running for US Senate this year.  Indeed there are 11 female Democrats running for Senate – but there are also seven female Republicans, which New York’s Junior Senator didn’t deign to mention.

“Kirsten Gillibrand’s career in the Senate is built on a foundation of lies and deceit, from touring New York touting new ‘jobs bills’ that never get passed to lying about her role helping women participate in politics.

“We call on Kirsten Gillibrand to name the Republican women that her organization helps – or admit that OffTheSidelines.org is a sham: just another way to funnel money to her reelection campaign.”

Yesterday, Biden Forgets What State He’s In – Today, Biden Forgets What Century He’s In

August 15, 2012 at 4:09 pm (20th Century, 21st Century, Automobile Manufacturing, Biden Being Biden, Joe Biden, North Carolina, Virginia, Weekly Standard)

Yesterday, good ol’ Joe Biden was on a roll, telling a predominantly African-American crowd that the Republicans want to put them “in chains”, and then telling the city of Danville, Virginia that they could lead the Democrats to victory in North Carolina.

It seems Uncle Joe is the gift that just keeps on giving.

Via the Weekly Standard:

In a speech today in Virginia, Vice President Joe Biden seemed to forget we’re in the 21st century.  ‘Folks, where’s it written we cannot lead the world in the 20th century in making automobiles?,” said Biden.

The Romney campaign responded to the gaffe over at the Standard:

UPDATE: Ryan Williams, a spokesman for the Romney campaign, responds: “Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan will ensure America leads the world in the 21st century by strengthening middle-class families and creating jobs. President Obama and Vice President Biden have taken our nation backward with failed policies that have resulted in higher unemployment, more debt, and a weaker economy. A campaign based on rage and divisiveness can’t hide the president’s failed record.”

To be fair, the Obama administration has set us back quite a bit, but a full 100 years?

Allen West on the Marines Video: "Shut Your Mouth, War is Hell"

January 14, 2012 at 12:58 am (Allen West, Conservative, Marines, Marines Incident, Mitt Romney, Video, Weekly Standard)

Thank God for men like Allen West.  The more I hear this great American speak, the more I think he is destined to attain an even greater role in the recovery of our country as a nation of morals, a nation of courage and conviction, and a nation that takes pride in its exceptionalism.  Mitt Romney should give West serious consideration as his running mate.  It would give him credibility in areas such as foreign policy and national defense, as well as giving him credibility with staunch conservatives.

In an e-mail to the Weekly Standard, former Army lieutenant colonel West, shows us once again that he and other men and women who have fought on the battlefield, understand what pompous pundits in the media will never understand.

The man just gets it:

“I have sat back and assessed the incident with the video of our Marines urinating on Taliban corpses. I do not recall any self-righteous indignation when our Delta snipers Shugart and Gordon had their bodies dragged through Mogadishu. Neither do I recall media outrage and condemnation of our Blackwater security contractors being killed, their bodies burned, and hung from a bridge in Fallujah.”

“All these over-emotional pundits and armchair quarterbacks need to chill. Does anyone remember the two Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division who were beheaded and gutted in Iraq?”

“The Marines were wrong. Give them a maximum punishment under field grade level Article 15 (non-judicial punishment), place a General Officer level letter of reprimand in their personnel file, and have them in full dress uniform stand before their Battalion, each personally apologize to God, Country, and Corps videotaped and conclude by singing the full US Marine Corps Hymn without a teleprompter.”

“As for everyone else, unless you have been shot at by the Taliban, shut your mouth, war is hell.”

Amen…
