Three Men in Colorado Shooting Died Taking Bullets For Their Girlfriends
It’s not very often that the media focuses on good, heart-warming news in any situation, let alone a tragedy the likes of the Colorado movie-theater shooting. We tend to focus on the bad news, the shocking news on a daily basis, overlooking feel-good stories because they are ‘boring’.
Guilty as charged here as well.
While the media will be focusing intensely on the story, background, and motive of the shooter in Aurora, despite none of it really mattering to the outcome, it’s certainly nice to see stories of heroism.
Michelle Malkin explains it best when she posted a column focusing solely on the victims…
Many TV viewers have e-mailed their frustration with news outlets running wall-to-wall coverage and photos of the alleged Aurora movie theater shooter. They don’t want to see his face. They don’t want to keep seeing his name.
I share that sentiment completely. While law enforcement officials have not yet released a public list of victims, friends and family members are spreading word on social media about the loved ones they have lost.

Another aspect of heroism I wanted to share with you today is the story of three men who lost their lives taking a bullet for their girlfriends.
It’s a scenario that as men, we’ve all played out in our minds at some point or another – If ever there were a situation in which we had to sacrifice our lives for the life of our wife or girlfriend, we would do so without a second thought. We all like to think we would do that. But would we if the situation presented itself? Would shock and fear overcome our bodies and minds, or would we react quickly, without hesitation to shield our loved ones from harm?
We may hope so, but these three men did. And because of that, their girlfriends all survived the massacre in Colorado.

In final acts of valor, Jon Blunk, Matt McQuinn and Alex Teves used their bodies to shield their girlfriends as accused madman James Holmes turned the Aurora cineplex into a shooting gallery.
Blunk’s girlfriend, Jansen Young; McQuinn’s girlfriend, Samantha Yowler; and Teves’ gal pal Amanda Lindgren made it out of the bloodbath — but they would have been killed had it not been for the loves of their lives.
