Weekend Recess: Watch This Anchorman Ask the Meteorologist to ‘Canoodle’ With Him on Live Television

The urban dictionary defines canoodling as “to lay in bed and cuddle with a lover” or “to be touchy-feely”.

So why did an anchorman for CTV News in Canada ask the team’s meteorologist if she’d like to canoodle during a live news broadcast?  Watch for yourself…

Via KWGN-Colorado:

A Canadian news anchor might have been wise to pull out a pocket dictionary before telling a female meteorologist he wanted to canoodle — on-air.

Unfortunately for CTV News’ Andrew Johnson, that dictionary must not have been readily available, and so he crafted what he thought was a relevant, clean, fun transition from a story about canoodling on the banks of the Union Bay to meteorologist Astrid Braunschmidt’s forecast.

“It’s time now for a full look at your forecast with Astrid, and maybe we can canoodle before you get into it about umm…” Johnson said, perhaps stopping because he had a producer screaming in his earpiece.

Meteorologist Astrid Braunschmidt’s shocked response is what has most people in stitches over the blooper.

“We’re NOT going to be canoodling,” she said, using a cease-fire hand gesture. “What?!”

With a big smile, Johnson shrugged and said “I thought canoodle meant chat.” He then thanked his producer for not letting his ill-fated attempt at making what he thought was harmless chit chat develop any further.

“Take it away, and get me off camera,” Johnson said in good humor as his spot came to a close.

The bigger question here is, who exactly uses the phrase ‘canoodling’ in the first place?  🙂
