Massachusetts Governor Requests Pot Holes Filled In Preparation For Michelle Obama Fundraising Visit

Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick has been dubbed ‘Mr. Smooth’ by the Boston Herald, due to his recent request that a road expected to be traveled by Michelle Obama next month, have pot holes filled in to provide the First Lady with a smooth ride.

The governor’s office personally lobbied for the repairs, calling town officials to see if they could fill in what most witnesses refer to as minor pot holes.  As luck would have it, the road also happens to be in close proximity to Governor Patrick’s home.

Mrs. Obama will be in town on August 3rd for a $20,000/seat soiree for the Obama Victory Fund.

One visiting lawyer called the act a courtesy, citing a tragic scenario in which the First Lady could be “talking on her cell phone and hitting a pothole”.

The horror.

Town officials say it’s not a big deal, setting the cost of a couple of tons of blacktop at a couple of hundred dollars.  This of course, doesn’t take into account the labor that would have to be paid to government workers repairing the roads.  Probably not much time, but hourly work nonetheless.

Not to mention, multiple witnesses have said the road appears to be in good shape, with some neighbors even stating that the road was resurfaced just last month.

It’s good to be queen…
