NY City School Girls – Can I Have a Large Soda?; City – No, But Here’s Some Morning After Pills

Schoolgirls as young as 14 will be given access to taxpayer-funded morning after pills in the same city that won’t allow them to purchase a large Coke with their own money.

The New York City Department of Education is making the morning-after-pill available to high school girls at 13 public schools.

The DOE says girls as young as 14 will be able to get the Plan B emergency contraception without parental consent.

Parents have been notified about the CATCH pilot program and how their daughters can opt out of it.

City Council Speaker Christine Quinn says she supports the program because high school students are sexually active and getting pregnant.

How did this become the responsibility of the school system?  Surely families that need this type of contraception will be able to get it from Sandra Flu … er … Obamacare.

And shouldn’t parents be given the choice of ‘opting-in’ as opposed to having to actively ‘opt-out’ of the program?

Biggest issue with this is, if the parents don’t properly submit the form to opt-out, or as is way too often in schools these days, they aren’t properly notified of the procedure, the schools can dispense the emergency contraception to their children without ever notifying anyone.
