Union Leader Beats Nikki Haley Effigy With a Baseball Bat

May 22, 2012 at 9:19 pm (AFL-CIO, Donna DeWitt, Effigy, Nancy Pelosi, New Tone, Nikki Haley, Pinata, Sarah Palin, Sikh Jesus, South Carolina, Union)

When Sarah Palin was being blamed for the Gabby Giffords shooting by liberals citing her targeted election maps, there was a renewed call for civil discourse in our country.

Targets you see, incite violence.

The incident prompted President Obama to deliver a speech which had been described as “calm amid the toxic rhetoric”.

There were calls for a “new tone” in politics.

This must have been what he had in mind…

Donna DeWitt, head of the South Carolina chapter of the AFL-CIO, repeatedly blasting an effigy of Governor Nikki Haley with a baseball bat, while union thugs are heard in the background screaming for her to “hit it again”, “wait ’til her face comes around and whack her”, and commenting on how Haley “is a tough old bitch”.

The video has been downloaded and posted below, since the national office of the AFL-CIO is trying to have it removed.

Via the Columbia Free Times:

A video posted online that shows a former union leader in South Carolina smashing a piñata effigy of Gov. Nikki Haley has riled the national office of the AFL-CIO, which wants it taken down.

“Do you think we can get this video pulled,” asked a national AFL-CIO official in an email to Palmetto State union sources.

The author of the email also worried the video might get “picked up by tea partiers, maybe even Haley herself, to attack labor again.”

The video in question features former AFL-CIO of South Carolina president Donna DeWitt smacking a Haley piñata with a baseball bat at DeWitt’s retirement party over the weekend.

It is accompanied with text under the video that reads in part, “Gov. Nikki Haley has been vicious to organized labor in South Carolina, saying in her State of the State address that ‘unions are not needed, wanted or welcome.’ After years of being treated like a union thug, Donna Dewitt gets sweet revenge at a reception in her honor.”

You likely won’t see this in the media, so our question is, under what scenarios would this lead to media coverage?  If the woman pictured on the pinata was a democrat, say Nancy Pelosi – maybe.  If the person pictured was an African-American democrat, as opposed to an Indian-American Republican (or a Sikh Jesus as her opponents like to call her) – likely.  If the person pictured was President Obama – definitely.
New tone for me, but not for thee.

Ronald Reagan’s Blood Being Sold At Auction

May 22, 2012 at 4:23 pm (1981, Assassination Attempt, BBC News, Blood, Kylie Whitehead, Ronald Reagan, Ronald Reagan Foundation, Vial, Washington)

Who exactly is in the market for this?  Unless … unless, somebody plans to clone him and replace Mitt Romney on the ticket…

Hmmm.

Via the AP:

A Channel Islands online auction house has angered Ronald Reagan’s foundation by claiming to offer a vial that once contained his blood.

The PFCAuctions house says the vial contains some of Reagan’s dried blood residue. The auctioneers say it was used by the laboratory that tested Reagan’s blood when he was hospitalized after a 1981 assassination attempt in Washington.

Officials at the Ronald Reagan Foundation in California have told BBC News that the sale is despicable.

Auction house spokeswoman Kylie Whitehead told The Associated Press that the blood is being sold by a man whose late mother took it from the laboratory with permission weeks after the tests were made.

Bidding for the vial had passed the 7,000-pound ($11,000) mark Tuesday.

Currently, the leading bid stands closer to the equivalent of $15,000.

Here is the auction posting…

And here is the image of your prize if you happen to have several grand laying around:

Reuters reports that an investigation is underway as to how somebody ended up with the vial in the first place.
The Ronald Reagan Foundation as you can imagine, is outraged:

Ronald Reagan’s foundation expressed outrage on Monday at a British company’s auction of what it says is a vial of the late U.S. president’s blood taken at the hospital where he was treated after a 1981 assassination attempt.

“If indeed this story is true, it’s a craven act and we will use every legal means to stop its sale or purchase,” John Heubusch, executive director of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation, said in a statement.

At the very least, the story is bizarre…

President Obama Booked Himself on Jimmy Fallon Show

May 22, 2012 at 2:14 pm (Jimmy Fallon, Late Night, President Obama, Slow Jam)

Cause, ya know, what else is there to do?

Glad he got the opportunity to slow jam the news with Jimmy, the way he’s slow jammed the economy.

Via Real Clear Politics:

“It’s the craziest thing ever to have happened to me,” Jimmy Fallon, the host of “Late Night” said about President Obama appearing on his show.

“We keep going to each other on the set, ‘Hey, it did happen right? We did Slow Jamming with the President of the United States?’ What happened is they called us, the White House called us because we did a piece with Michelle on,” Fallon said.

“He booked himself on your show?” Matt Lauer of the “Today” show asked Fallon.

“The President booked himself,” Fallon said. “He didn’t call, the White House called us.”

Left Still Trying to Intimidate Supreme Court Over Obamacare

May 22, 2012 at 11:12 am (John Roberts, Left, Liberal, Obamacare, Pat Leahy, Supreme Court, Unconstitutional)

Specifically, they’re calling out John Roberts in an attempt to convey the message that if he dares contribute to the overturning of Obamacare, he is simply doing so based on radical conservative judicial activism.

Nevermind it is an unconstitutional overreach of government power.

Via the Wall Street Journal:

You can tell the Supreme Court is getting closer to its historic ObamaCare ruling because the left is making one last attempt to intimidate the Justices. The latest effort includes taunting Chief Justice John Roberts that if the Court overturns any of the law, he’ll forever be defined as a partisan “activist.”

Senate Judiciary Chairman Pat Leahy recently took the extraordinary step of publicly lobbying the Chief Justice after oral argument but before its ruling. “I trust that he will be a Chief Justice for all of us and that he has a strong institutional sense of the proper role of the judicial branch,” the Democrat declared on the Senate floor. “The conservative activism of recent years has not been good for the Court.”

He added that, “Given the ideological challenge to the Affordable Care Act and the extensive, supportive precedent, it would be extraordinary for the Supreme Court not to defer to Congress in this matter that so clearly affects interstate commerce.”

The elite liberal press has followed with pointed warnings that Mr. Roberts has a choice—either uphold ObamaCare, or be portrayed a radical who wants to repeal the New Deal and a century of precedent. This attack is itself clearly partisan, but it’s worth rehearsing the arguments to show how truly flawed they are.
