Biden Tells Virginia Crowd Romney Administration "Going To Put Y’All Back in Chains"

August 14, 2012 at 4:16 pm (Back in Chains, Danville, Economy, Joe Biden, President Obama, Romney Campaign, Stephanie Cutter, Vice President, Virginia, Wall Street)

Vice-President Joe Biden, a man known for spitting out gaffes every time he exhales, unleashed a racially tinged comment at a speaking event in Danville, Virginia.

Biden: “They’ve said it, every Republican voted for it. Look at what they value and look at their budget and what they’re proposing. Romney wants to let the– He said in the first hundred days he’s going to let the big banks once again write their own rules. Unchain Wall Street. They’re going to put y’all back in chains. He said he’s going to do nothing about stopping the practice of outsourcing.”

Some of you might be asking what makes this a racially tinged comment, aside from the visual of putting ordinary citizens “back in chains”?  The city of Danville has a population that is nearly 50% African American.

The Romney campaign was quick to respond:

“After weeks of slanderous and baseless accusations leveled against Governor Romney, the Obama Campaign has reached a new low.  The comments made by the Vice President of the United States are not acceptable in our political discourse and demonstrate yet again that the Obama Campaign will say and do anything to win this election.  President Obama should tell the American people whether he agrees with Joe Biden’s comments.”

Amazingly, the Obama campaign did not distance themselves from these remarks, instead backing up what Joe Biden said.

Biden is known to make gaffes, but the Obama campaign gave no indication this was a misstep from Biden and doubled-down on the sentiment.  In an appearance on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports,” campaign spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter said it was a metaphor that President Barack Obama “probably” agreed with.

“I think he probably agrees with Joe Biden’s sentiments,” Cutter said. “I mean he’s using a metaphor about what’s going to happen … look, I appreciate the faux outrage from the Romney campaign. If you want to talk about the use of words, then take a look at Mitt Romney’s stump speech where he basically calls the president un-American. So does [Romney spokeswoman] Andrea Saul agree with that language?” …

…

“Bottom line is that we have no problem with those comments — those comments in the full context of them,” she said.

Sununu to CNN’s Soledad O’Brien: Just "Put an Obama Bumper Sticker on Your Forehead"

August 14, 2012 at 10:42 am (Bumper Sticker, CNN, Congressional Budget Office, John Sununu, Media Bias, Medicare, Obama, Soledad O'Brien, Starting Point)

Wait, what?  Mainstream journalists are biased?

Via Mediaite:

Tuesday’s Starting Point began with a bang (and a whimper, on our end) as host Soledad O’Brien and Romney surrogate John Sununu entered into a heated argument over Medicare.

“I understand that this is a Republican talking point because I’ve heard it repeated over and over again,” said O’Brien after Sununu insisted the Romney and Ryan plans were different. “And these numbers have been debunked, as you know, by the Congressional Budget Office.”

“No they haven’t,” said Sununu.

“Yes, they have,” answered O’Brien.

It got worse, or better, depending on your perspective…

“Soledad, stop this!” said Sununu. “All you’re doing is mimicking the stuff that comes out of the White House and gets repeated on the Democratic blog boards out there….”

“I’m telling you what FactCheck.com tells you,” she insisted. “I’m telling you what the CBO tells you. I’m telling you what CNN’s independent analysis does.”

“Put an Obama bumper sticker on your forehead when you do this,” Sununu shot back.

Beyond fantastic!  Watch for yourself…

Watch: Wolf Blitzer Destroys DNC Chair Over Medicare Lies

August 14, 2012 at 9:00 am (CNN, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Democrats, DNC, Lying, Medicare, Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, Seniors, Wolf Blitzer)

Debbie Wasserman Schultz has had a long history of struggling with the truth.  But you know it’s bad when Wolf Blitzer of CNN has to thoroughly destroy her in an interview in which she tries to continue pushing those lies.

Schultz took to pushing an already well-documented lie on Medicare and the Republicans so-called efforts to end it, and trying to scare people into thinking Romney and Ryan’s plan would effect current seniors.  Wolf Blitzer to his credit, wouldn’t stand for the lies, and hilarity ensues…

Via Townhall:

Let me say this right up front: Congratulations to Wolf Blitzer for being a relentless, responsible journalist. If you value the truth, this interview is a pleasure to watch.  If you have even an ounce of human compassion for the in-over-her-head target of Blitzer’s inquisition, it’s positively brutal:

Poor Debbie.  She’s totally out-gunned and has nowhere to hide.  Her talking points are pitifully hollow and cannot withstand even basic questioning.  She stubbornly rejects the (correct) premise that the Romney/Ryan Medicare reform plan exempts everyone over the age of 54, and plays fast and loose with numbers — conflating 55 and 65 on several occasions.  When she is brow-beaten into finally acknowledging — if not admitting — the truth around the 3:45 mark, she quickly realizes her “mistake” and reverts back into denialism.  When Blitzer asks her to specify exactly how current or soon-to-be seniors would be impacted by the GOP plan, she cannot.  Because they’re not.  The Left is intellectually bankrupt on the very subject they claim will allow them to crush Mitt Romney in November.  They despise the bipartisan solution Republicans have offered, but they have no alternative of their own.

Man Who Threatened President Pleads Guilty For Threatening to "Torture and Murder" Schoolchildren

August 14, 2012 at 7:00 am (Brent Dickinson, Brent G. Dickinson, New York, President Obama, Saratoga County, Schoolchildren, Terroristic Threat, Torture)

Brent Dickinson was arrested in March for sending threatening messages about President Obama via a White House message board.

Now, the man who claimed his threats were being “blown way out of proportion” has pled guilty to making a terroristic threat.  That threat involved an expressed desire to “torture and murder” school children.

Brent Dickinson pleaded guilty Monday to sending an email threatening to “torture and murder” local schoolchildren.

Dickinson, 33, was arrested in March following a joint investigation by the Secret Service and the Saratoga Springs Police Department.

He pleaded guilty to attempted making a terroristic threat, a felony.

Dickinson also threatened President Barack Obama in the message and has yet to answer that charge in federal court.

Dickinson faces 1 to 3 years in prison, he is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 15.

His threats involved taking the children hostage and then killing them.

Even more frightening, Dickinson was caught on the premises of a Saratoga County elementary school one week prior to his arrest.  He was asked to leave.

The 33-year-old local man accused of threatening to murder President Barack Obama and Saratoga County elementary school students visited an area school one week before his arrest and was told to leave the premises, police said …

… “He stopped at a school a week prior to the arrest to use the bathroom. The principal saw him and had him leave,” said Saratoga Springs Police Lt. John Catone, who would not specify which school Dickinson visited, other than saying it was located somewhere in the city.

Another report indicated that Dickinson had visited two schools before his arrest – one public and one private.

Dickinson’s problems have only begun, as he faces federal charges for his threats against the President.
